Every Child Ready to Read is a five week program for children 3 - 5 years old and their adult caregiver. Participants will actively explore the early literacy techniques of talking, singing, reading, writing and playing to help children develop the skills needed to be better prepared to learn how to read. The program will include activities such as playing with puzzles, painting and building with blocks. Registration is limited to 15 children. Meets on November 10, 17, 24, December 1 and December 8.

READ TO OLIVER -- This program is for elementary school aged children.

Read to Oliver, a lovable Labradoodle, owned by Judy Carlson, a retired 1st grade teacher from Aitken School. She allows 20 minutes for each child to sit on a comfy couch with Oliver and read to him. He loves it and the children build reading skills and gain confidence in reading aloud.

There is no pre-registration for this program; however, it would be advised to reserve a time in advance by calling 508-336-8230 x5140.

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought fleetingly about writing a novel.
